The sun is (almost!) shining, longer days are here … and we’re suddenly noticing how messy our homes are. Ugh. With spring cleaning season in full swing, here’s how to spruce up your house for less.

It’s not always easy to have a clean and tidy house when you’ve got kids (okay, it’s pretty much impossible!). But there are ways to get everything sparkling clean with little ones around – and it’s easier than you think.

From tried-and-tested tips to genius TikTok hacks, we’ve rounded up some of our fave spring cleaning ideas. And there’s no need to splash out on expensive cleaning products. Head to Aldi where you’ll find everything from bleach to the cult Fabulosa range, all at great prices.

1. Make a cleaning caddy

Before you start your spring cleaning, make sure you’ve stocked up on your essential cleaning kit. Rubber gloves , disinfectant and furniture polish are all must-haves. You can pick up these and more from Aldi’s cleaning range for much less than other popular brands.

Pop them all into a box or caddy to keep your cleaning kit all together.

2. Sort out your bins

Spring cleaning is the perfect time to tackle those often-neglected areas. And that includes your bins. Luckily there is an easy way to leave them smelling lovely.

If it’s been a while since you last cleaned your bin (er, that’s us then!), take them outside and swill them out with water. This will remove any nasty bits that have gathered at the bottom.

Then spray on a multi-purpose disinfectant spray, scrubbing with a brush if there’s lots of dried on muck.

Aldi stocks the bargain Fabulosa range, which is loved by cleaning fans. Spritz some Fabulosa Electrify Concentrated Disinfectant (it’s just 99p for 500ml) into your household bins and they’ll smell amazing!

3. Try the TikTok mirror cleaning method

We all love a TikTok cleaning hack (we’re obsessed with the #CleanTok videos). And we’re particularly impressed with a trick for cleaning those hard-to-reach parts of mirrors and glass doors.

This one is super easy. Squirt the mirror or glass all over with glass cleaner. Then wrap a microfibre cloth around a flat-headed mop. You'll be able to reach those top corners that are normally out of reach (and left covered in dust). Sparkling in no time.

4. Clean cushion covers for less

Whether it’s a makeshift seat for watching Peppa Pig on repeat or a den floor, your cushions get used a lot.

If they have removable covers, whip them off and pop on to wash. (Always check the care label first to make sure they’re suitable for machine washing.)

Aldi’s Almat Super Concentrated Colour Liquid Wash is just £2.79 for 42 washes. Not just a total bargain, it will shift stains too.

5. 14p microwave cleaning hack

The inside of your microwave can get VERY dirty. (We blame the exploding baked beans.) But it couldn’t be easier to clean with this cheap method.

Pour half a cup of water into a bowl. Slice a lemon in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into the bowl. (Aldi’s multipack lemons work out at just 14p each.) Drop the lemon halves in afterwards. Then microwave on high power for 2 or 3 minutes and leave in the microwave for the same time again. (The steam will help loosen all the cooked-on dirt.)

Then simply wipe down the inside of your microwave.

6. Clear out *that* kitchen drawer

Always buying stamps, batteries or tape, even though you’re convinced you’ve already got them at home? You probably have … in the kitchen drawer that’s totally full of everything .

By organising the drawer, you’ll no longer waste money doubling up on items. Simple (and surprisingly satisfying).

7. Wash your reusable bags

From bits of broccoli to old shopping lists, your reusable bags are probably home to all sorts of things. And while you take them to Aldi for your weekly shop, you probably never think about cleaning them out. (Or is that just us?)

As part of your spring clean, wipe them out with antibacterial wipes. If they’re fabric bags, pop them into a wash with Aldi’s customer-favourite Almat laundry detergent range .

8. Use baby wipes

Aldi Mamia baby wipes are award-winning and gentle on even newborn skin. But they are also brilliant at cleaning. Genius!

From wiping walls to buffing carpet stains, baby wipes can do it all. And the best bit is, you’ve already got a pack or 2 at home.
