Perfume-lovers have found an M&S perfume that smells very similar to Chanel – and incredibly it's more than £100 cheaper than the designer brand (plus shoppers are also raving about the Aldi perfume designer dupes that are back in-store – more on that below...).

Chanel No. 5 is one of the most popular perfumes of all time, with many recalling their mum or grandmother wearing the iconic scent.

However, until now, it's usually been unaffordable for shoppers on a budget.

But thanks to Marks & Spencer, you can buy the next best thing. And it seems LOADS of you are ...

Shoppers say they've found one that smells 'just like it' – the Velvet Rose fragrance in the Discover Eau De Toilette range – and at £9.50 for 100ml, it's £116.50 cheaper than the £126 No. 5 by Chanel.

One customer wrote: 'Smells similar to Chanel No 5 lovely perfume good value.'

Another added: 'Very similar to a classic French perfume ... I was very fond of that one in my youth but can no longer justify that sort of money. Anyway I sprayed a sample of Velvet Rose whilst in store – wasn't really convinced until I got home. I was pleasantly surprised as the smell is similar.'

The 30ml version has already sold out online, and no doubt the 100ml will follow as fragrance fans hear of the bargain, so be quick if you want to try it for yourself.
