I will be moving out of my family home tomorrow into a houseshare that does not allow children.

It's going to be very difficult as I have been the main caregiver for my child from momday to Saturday 6:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. everyday

And moving away from him and only being able to see him. 3 hours on a Monday and a Wednesday is not enough. That is how it has to be.

The reasoning me and my wife did not get on with each other anymore and one of us has to move out and I guess it's me

What I'm finding it hard to deal with is the depression that is sinking in. How do I cope with this

Hi Jimmy,

I'm Emma, one of the Parent Supporters here at Netmums. Thank you for reaching out to us here, hopefully some of our community will be along shortly to share their own experience and help too.

I'm sorry to hear how your circumstances have resulted in this change for you, I can hear how upsetting this is for you. You sound like a very caring and loving Father to your lovely son. Have you anyone close to you who you can talk to whilst going through this difficult time Jimmy? If you feel comfortable talking with your GP they will be able to refer you on for some counselling which could help deal with this depression feeling.

Even though you won't be able to physically see your son as often it does not take away the care and love you have been providing for him over the years and will be going forward. The Naccc website provides great information and help regarding how to manage co-parenting and help for single parents. Splitting up? Put Kids First - co-parenting blog - NACCC

Take care,

Emma
