Good evening

the last 5 days my daughter who is coming up to 4months has started to feed for 5 seconds then come of the breast then goes back on. I have tried all the differed positions but she seems to still be doing this same action. I am not sure why and am now finding breast feeding quite difficult.

Any advice as to why this maybe happing would be really helpful.

Hi Jodie

Thank you for posting.

There can be a number of reasons for LOs to seem to 'fuss' at the breast.

You may find My baby fusses or cries when breastfeeding - what's the problem? • KellyMom.com helpful.

Is your LO having at least 6 wet nappies in a 24 hour period? If your LO is having less it may be worth speaking with your GP to make sure your LO is not dehydrated.

How is your LO in general?

It may be worth a chat with your health visitor although they do not work weekends usually so you can contact National Breastfeeding Helpline – Helpline if needing support over the weekend.

I hope you find the above links helpful

Best wishes

Emma

Is she getting a proper latch? I know some babies do struggle getting enough of the nipple in their mouth depending on the size and shape. I had the problem where mine were too large for my babies mouth, but we made it work with practice
