My 3 1/2 yr old cannot sit still EVER even when she’s tired/going off to sleep. She never stops talking even to the extent of talking to herself she’s constantly moving/touching things/ she’s so strong and doesn’t know what gentle is she’s so full on all of the time. She wears me out just watching her.

when do children and how do they get diagnosed with adhd etc?

I know toddlers are full of energy I’ve already been through the toddler stage with my oldest.

many advice would be great. Thank you

Hi Victoria,

Thank you for your post.

Have you spoken to your health visitor about your concerns? Your health visitor will be able to take more details and offer a developmental assessment to help identify any areas of need or support for your LO.

ADHD is not usually diagnosed until the age of least 6 years old. But that is not to say you cannot reach out to professionals who can advise further on your concerns.

Does your LO attend childcare? If so have they shared any worries or concerns?

Do you feel able to reach out to your health visitor to explore your LOs behaviour a little more?

Kind regards

Emma

The waiting list is 3 to 4 years depending on area so I would go to your docs with your concerns and ask for a referral to the children and young people's service explain that you would rather she was on the list now due to wait times!! You can also self refer depending on your area!! Im a mother with 3 children diagnosed late and 2 on the waiting list ive also just Been diagnosed with adhd myself!! Its a long process and as a parent can be really frustrating
