Hi Jennifer,

I’m Kayleigh, one of the Parent Supporters at Netmums. It sounds like it has been incredibly difficult for you and your son to be apart from your granddaughter under these circumstances. You are doing all the right things in regards to going through the courts and highlighting your concerns officially, but it doesn’t make it any easier when contact hasn’t been reinstated yet.

I wonder what input you have had from Cafcass and ICFA so far? Have you had much contact with them or has this mainly been through your son? ICFA provide a summary of what to expect from a referral on their website if you would like any more information about this: https://www.cafcass.gov.uk/grown-ups/parents-and-carers/improving-child-and-family-arrangements/

You can find more information about how to report your concerns about abuse here: How to report child abuse without any worries | NSPCC

Are social services involved with your granddaughter currently?

Your son could also find some further guidance here: Fathers - Family Rights Group (frg.org.uk) they have some really useful information relating to father’s contact rights

Ultimately, your granddaughter’s wellbeing will be prioritised in this case and her own personal preference will be taken into account as well. Three weeks must feel like a long time to wait but I hope you are able to get some positive action at the next court date

Wishing you all the best,

Kayleigh
