A couple weeks ago I found out I was pregnant and I’ve done a lot of thinking and I know that I want to keep the baby. Is anyone else here young and pregnant? Or can anyone offer me some advice? My mum is fully supportive of my decision which I’m grateful for. I’m going to make an appointment with a midwife soon. I think i’m roughly 7 weeks. :)

Hi I found myself pregnant at 17 I went ahead with the pregnancy my eldest is now nearly 21

Being young isn't a bad thing you have more energy etc and you learn to prioritise someone else over yourself its daunting at first but I'm sure you'll make a fantastic mam x

Hey

I’m now 35 but had my first at 17.

I found it easier at 17 than I do now. Which you would say is weird. I think I just had more energy and didn’t really have life to worry about.

If you’re happy with your decision and you have great support. Then honestly you don’t need advice because everything will come together.

Being a mum is tough no matter what age you are or how ready you feel! Every baby is different. Just concentrate on your pregnancy keep positive and try and stay stress free and most of all enjoy it. Oh and sleep now!!! 🫣

good luck

Congratulations! It’s great that your mum is fully supportive, I fell pregnant at 18 with my first, didn’t find out until I was 16weeks pregnant! Still had periods throughout, it was only when I was having loads of nausea (specifically when I was eating garlic bread or anything that smelt of garlic) that I felt something wasn’t right and did a test.

you will be absolutely fine! My eldest now is 7 and I’m so glad I had him younger, have you looked into anything you may be entitled to? When I fell pregnant I had a look online and there was a grant for people having there first child.. I will attach the link on to here it’s called a sure start maternity grant. I received a payment of £500 to help towards buying the cot/pram or clothes etc, it was really helpful and got me on my feet ready for when my son was born!

you sound very mature and sensible and you sound like you’ll be a great mum! It’s a very exciting time, here is the link for the grant if you didn’t already know x

My sister was pregnant at 15 and turned 16 when she gave birth. My parents was furious and devastated but we all stood by her whatever the outcome. She kept the baby and finished school etc. She is a brilliant mum to 3 children now. Age doesn't define you as a parent. What I would suggest is to be prepared for some negative comments from people. Nothing can prepare you for parenthood no matter your age. Good luck with everything I'm sure whichever path you choose is your choice noone elses.
