Ever since I started breastfeeding I don't seem to experience any pain or discomfort in my breasts or nipples. There are times when I'm feeding and my baby chews, pulls and twists my nipples and it honestly doesn't cause me discomfort at all. My fiancé was mortified when he saw the baby scratching at my breasts and gripping a big fistfull of boob skin then pulling/pinching, but I had to reassure him that it doesn't hurt and I'm just letting the baby do what he wants to be comfortable, plus it is kinda cute!

My nipples have easily doubled in size since pregnancy and I have a very large chest too if that makes a difference.

Anybody else experienced this or is it just me?

Hi Laura,

How old is your LO? Do you feel your body has adapted to your LO or do you feel there is a concern that you cannot feel him at your breast?

Is your LO thriving and taking enough feed to maintain his weight and generally be happy and healthy?

I hope others will come and share their experiences to help offer reassurance. But if you are worried you can also speak to your health visitor who can take more details and make further assessments.

All the best

Emma

He is 3 months now and I do feel like I have adapted as I can feel him at my breast, I just don't seem to experience discomfort when he does those things. I just wanted to know if that was normal and his behaviour was normal?

He's gaining weight very well so far and is happy as long as I let him do what he wants pretty much.

Thanks

Hi Laura

Yes, nothing here sounds concerning at all, if you are not in discomfort. If your LO is thriving and having plenty of wet and dirty nappies then just enjoying this wonderful time is all you need to do.

Please let us know if you'd like more support.

Best wishes
