She got the new pair at Christmas, the secondary school she is at does allow Black ones, providing they are flat

On Monday one of them was leaking slightly and she said her feet were wet and she can not wear them.

However, given that it is now into second week in March and that hopefully she will soon be back into Shoes if the weather should improve as we have quite a bit of snow where I am, I really do not want to be paying for a new pair of Boots right now.

So today my daughter went to school in her Wellingtons which may look silly to some.

Would you send your kids to school in Wellingtons or not when the weather is bad?

She is 15 btw

I'd send my son to school in whatever was practical, comfortable, and suitable for the weather.

By the time he was 15, though, he'd generally choose what to wear himself.

Practical is best I say, no point in having wet feet all day

I'd send in wellies to keep feet dry on the way, but pack other shoes/boots to change into once inside.

My children are still in primary school but any time they've had to wear wellies into school they've taken other shoes to change in to. I can't imagine sending a child to either primary or secondary with only wellies and nothing to change in to, personally.

It depends on your funds but no, I wouldn’t. my DD school wouldn’t allow it anyway and if it was my teenager, she would be mortified and she isn’t materialistic at all.

can’t she just wear her school shoes?

Sorry should have said, by all means send her into school with wellies but she needs shoes to change into.

Pps, can a cobbler not repair the original boots?

If school allows I would send my child in whatever footwear they are comfortable with. You are lucky you have the choice. My son's secondary school insisted no boots or weather appropriate footwear was allowed even when we had several cm of snow. I saw girls in slip on shoes walking thro snow and puddles. As long as walkways were gritted no boots allowed.

Sorry should have said in the original post, she did have Shoes to change into once there

I was meaning for the commute to school she was throwing a bit of a tantrum about wearing the Wellies that day, though the weather was bad like I say, so did not want her Socks being soaked

ah, this changes my answer. If she was worried about wearing wellies then I would have just let her go in her shoes. She’s 15. She’s old enough to decide whether she wants to suffer with wet feet all day.

plus, the chances are other kids would laugh at her. My answer would be different if she was still in primary school
