Looking for some ideas and tips really
My daughter will be 1 in February (I know it's a little while off but want to look into it) and I'm not sure what to do!!!
I do want to have a little party/get together but nothing over the top because she's so young still!
My flat is quite small and so really limited space! We've got a garden but February weather is probably not going to be great!! I feel like hiring a hall is a bit over the top!
Looking at who I would invite (family and close friends) there's about 11 children (3 babies and 8 toddlers) and plus their mummies, my flat would just be chaotic.
I have the option of not having a party and just celebrating ourselves (and grandparents) but I do want to do something for her....any good arguments on not bothering with a little party?
What did you all do?
Yeah I'm not too sure on a large soft play area, I just think they might all be too young? Aged between 8 months and 3 years old. I will have a look if any local ones have specific young areas....
Thanks for the children's centre tip - I didn't realise you could hire them. My local one is lovely with really good play facilities.....I might look into that....
Thank you
Anyone else?
By the time you put
Grandparents
Cousins
Aunty & Uncle
Mam & Dad
Birthday child
a few friends & parents... you soon run out of space at home!
#2 just had a birthday party at home... 7 kids (3mine, 4 guests), 6 adults and there was NO room to move!
We lived in a little flat when my eldest Lo was born and for his first birthday we had a little party at MIL's house, had a bouncy castle in the garden as it was just warm enough (mid sept!) and had some food and friends, we just did the same for his third birthday a few weeks ago actually!! lol!
My youngest is turning one on Monday and we again are having a little party next weekend but at our house this time and the kids will just play indoors, prob will be a bit mad as there will be my eldests friends really and family so about 5 toddlers and lots of adults.
Softplay is nice idea but we have never really had enough children to do it.

I also got some lovely helium balloons which they loved looking at and playing with.
Unfortunately DS was ill. (everyone was warned he had had a temperature the day before and came along anyway). He was better first thing, but then slept in sing song time and then ate/had his cake/played etc.
In the afternoon he took a real turn for the worse and we spent his birthday evening in the paediatric ward being assessed. He had tonsilitis poor chap.
@ Aimee...hard to explain but my mum has just got bits and bobs everywhere lol, there's only 3 people living there but it feels crowded she's got hippy furniture, ornaments and dangly bits everywhere! She hasn't got a big house either...
I will have about 3 babies who are 8 months old, 7 toddlers from 2-3 years old and a 6 and 9 year old. (12)
Do you think they would be too young for a soft play area? The majority will be 2/3 years old...
I will definitely chase up the Children's Centre idea because my local one is lovely and a lovely size....might have a look see if there's any small-ish halls nearby!
There will be about 12 children and 14/15 adults
Any other ideas/experiences welcome
Another idea is that church's often run toddler groups and have toys etc on site and rent out their room(s) on Saturdays (along with access to toys). Could be worth asking around.
