Does anyone know of a local charity that actually uses donated baby clothes, instead of selling them, like a women's shelter? I have the usual amount of baby clothes which I'd like to give to somewhere that will put them to good use to help disadvantaged mums / babies. Thanks!

Hi, do you have a local Womens Refuge? I know they would greatly receive them. I tend to give clothes, toys bits of furniture to them, as most of the mums that turn up with or without children only have the clothes they stand in.

what about contacting a church

My friend is a Fellowship Church member & they often help women escaping violence etc so anything from clothes to toys to bedding & furniture is welcome

You could put them on Freecycle.  I did that with a few bags of variously sized baby and toddler clothes and lots of people wanted them.

Do you have a local sure start centre? They give clothes and baby equipment out to families with very little.

what about a big city near you ? the will have  a womens refuge , although they dot give out addresses for obvious reason s you would  need to phone the main office or  email them with your details and area , When i donated some kitchen stuff to womens aid iphoned and they picked them up from the house ,

Women's aid will probably happily them. I know when my aunt when into women's aid she had the clothes on her back and the one outfit for her baby and nothing else

Have a look on their website and see where there local office is and give them a call.

We used to have a charity at school called Pro Life and was for young girls that were pregnant. If you have something like that locally they may also take them.

I give all my daughter's outgrown clothes to Home Start. They are always in great condition and gratefully recieved and it's nice to know that they are going to someone who needs them free of charge. x

Hey when my wee girl was just a baby.  I phoned around woman and children's hostels asking if they accepted  clothes.   I give my pregnancy clothes and most of my wee girls baby stuff to a place in Glasgow's west end.   The other place I phone said they can't take anything...

So just find out womans aid hostels, children's homes etc   young mum and baby hostels and phone and ask..

Women's Aid - the key national charity working to end domestic violence against women and children

Obviously they can't give addresses but their main offices should be able to help.

I'd rather not go into it but Womens Aid are a very worthy charity
