Hi I’m looking for some advise if anybody has dealt with similar.. I’ve recently had my 36 week scan and was told there is a ‘slight increase in the trabeculation in the right ventricle of baby’s heart’ I was told that this isn’t an issue and won’t change my birth or baby won’t have any follow up appointments. When I told my midwife she seemed concerned and they sent it off to the consultant to review.. well I’ve just had a call from the consultant and he said that ideally I would be monitored the whole time through my birth instead of every 15 minutes like they would usually do at home.. but when I asked if it would affect my baby during birth or has it with previous baby’s with this issue he didn’t give me a clear answer just said it’s my decision it’s just what they advise.

This has made me feel like if I go ahead with my home birth I could potentially put my baby at risk but at the same time it could be nothing ?

I was also told my baby wouldn’t need any additional checks after birth at my scan and now I’ve been told he will need heart scans when he’s born but they don’t know when???

So basically has anybody dealt with this before as right now I feel absolutely clueless Google is just making me panic so I’m trying to avoid it but has anybody dealt with this issue before in babies and have any advise??

Also I’m only having a homebirth as I had water births with my 2 previous and the hospital I’m currently under has shut there birthing unit due to being understaffed and they only have 1 pool on the maternity suite so the chances of me getting a pool are very slim. I’m not against a hospital birth I’m just very very adamant I want a water birth.

Sorry for rambling I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant and now terrified to give birth 💔

Hello Rosegirlxx

I imagine this has come as a very big shock and has left you absolutely reeling. Its no wonder you feel like you do. I am sorry to hear this has happened right at the end of your pregnancy.

We have a lot of fantastic community support here on Netmums and I am confident that you will hear from other members who may have been through similar.

I would keep in very close contact with your Midwife and tell them exactly how you are feeling. They are there to look after your emotional well-being as much as the physical well-being of both you and your unborn baby.

If you do have chance to let us know how you get on, then this would be really useful to understand. We are here to chat more if it helps too.

Sending very best wishes to you and your family.

Tracey
