Totally fed up at the minute of never having any spare money. We both work full time in good jobs that we studied hard to get, but with childcare, a mortgage (which has just gone up £300) rising prices of everything, we just never have any spare money tto do anything nice as a family-even a day out seems to cost a fortune these days-never mind a holiday!

Is it just us? We watch every penny-what are we doing wrong and how do we move forward financially?

Absolutely feeling your pain. I am a single mum with a very good job but even I don’t feel I’m comfortable. If my dad didn’t live with us I wouldn’t be able to afford to live where I do. He has to pay the bills for me.

Yes, Yes and Yes

I had to reply to this. You are not on your own. Me and husband work hard and on paper bring in a decent household income but with gas/electric, food going up, my rent has just gone up we are being absolutely hammered. We now have no dispensable income. A holiday is well and truly out the window. Its soul destroying working and having nothing to be able to treat yourself or family. We looked at going the cinema and it was coming in at nearly £45 for 4 😳

We are just trying to find other means. We did 2 4 1 at the sea life so saved half the cost. The small local cinema only charges £6 per ticket. Swimming at the local pool. I love taking the kids on big days out but it's now out of reach but to be honest the kids don't even notice. I took my son shopping spent £10 in primark, a sausage roll from greggs and we went to watch a film (I took a bottle of water and didn't have any snacks) he told me on the night he had, had the best day ever 🤷🏻‍♀️ they just like spending time with us. Suppose its how we have to look at it at the moment just keeping a roof over our heads and food in the cupboard. Sending u hugs I know how you feel. Hopefully things get better soon! Xx

I agree. Things were like that for us despite us both working full time and on a good wage.

I started a side business and now I work an extra 3 evenings a week and a Saturday.

Not ideal but it pays for our luxuries. Definitely worth looking at a side hustle . I work now from 830am - 530 / 6pm. Then 3 evenings work from 7pm - 11pm then Saturday all day.

All helps :)
