Questionable Gestational sac at week 8 according to lmp, should I have hope?

I am not sure of my ovulation date, but according to my lmp, I had my first ultrasound at week 8 of pregnancy. There was a gestational sac at 21 mm with no visible embryo and a possible egg yolk, not definitive. There was also no fetal pole. My HCG raised from about 1800 2.5 weeks prior to 24000 that same day. I know you can still have a miscarriage and raised HCG along with pregnancy symptoms. I have had food aversions and increased evening sickness since then. My doctor thinks it is most likely a miscarriage and keeps telling me to accept it. I go in in two days for confirmation. Should I have any hope? These symptoms are a big tease and don't know how to cope.
