1. Set a bedtime routine

After a busy day we all need to wind down in the evenings. And your little one is no different. That’s why establishing a bedtime routine is such a big part of helping your child sleep.

Consistency is key so whatever time you decide to start the routine, try and stick to the same timings as much as possible every day. What you include in the bedtime wind-down is up to you: a bath, cuddles or even a gentle baby massage could all help relax your little one and get them ready for sleep.

2. Read a bedtime story

One of the nicest things to include in your child’s bedtime routine is a story. Not only does it give you time to snuggle up together, it also helps calm your little one.

One study found just six minutes of reading a book can decrease stress levels by 68%. While the study was carried out on adults, children are likely to find a good bedtime story just as relaxing.

There are plenty of lovely picture and story books to choose from. Why not head to your local library and let your little one pick their own bedtime stories.

3. Turn off devices

There’s been lots of research into the effects of screens on sleep. One study even found that watching TV after 7pm actually reduces the amount of time babies sleep at night. Yikes.

That’s why the final step in helping your child sleep better is limiting screen time. Aim to turn off all devices at least 30 minutes before bed.

4. Make sure your child’s bedding is snuggly soft

Fairy Non Bio has got you covered with their Sensitive Skin Dream Team – Fairy Non Bio PODS® and Fairy Fabric Softener. Suitable for even the most delicate of skin, Fairy gives clothes a gentle clean, while leaving them snuggly soft.
