any success stories from open cervix after a check at 7 weeks?

found out was pregnant at 4w+3, everything’s been fine up until now 7w+3 started heavily cramping (vv similar to my period cramps) bleeding started off light now dark and slightly heavy. Called gyno and was told to wait(friday afternoon), called next day due to still bleeding went into out of hours gp waited 6 hours to has cervix and blood checked. blood showed that it matched how far along i was(doctor seemed fine with those results) did a cervix check and was told cervix is slightly open and maybe an inevitable miscarriage which is uncertain but very worrying for me, was told the only way to determine is through ultrasound which can’t be done other the weekend so i need to wait 3 days for an appointment. unsure on how to exactly feel, ive cried a lot due to hearing the word inevitable and thinking this is a miscarriage unsure on what to think or feel? any help please?

Hi Lily,

I’m Kayleigh, one of the parent supporters at Netmums. Sending you a big hug. It is understandable you are left feeling worried and unsure at the moment, I imagine this wait over the weekend has been really hard. Sitting with uncertainty can feel impossible, because our mind wants to know what will happen next.

I would encourage you to try and find ways to be kind to yourself whilst you are waiting for your scan appointment. You might find you are feeling a whole range of emotions, give yourself permission to pause everyday pressures right now if you can. Don’t feel like you have to be productive, think about what you might usually do to relax and try to make space for those activities. If you feel comfortable to, share how you are feeling with those you are closest to, you deserve someone to lean on right now.

Wishing you all the best for your scan Lily. We are listening too, please let us know if we can support you further

Take care,

Kayleigh
