Hi all,

Past few nights my girl has started kicking and screaming after a couple of hours of sleeping. She is still very sleepy but we have to take her outside to calm down due to her being so hysterical. She is teething but they dont seem to be bothering her too much, but does have abit of a cough from extra salivia which i think it collecting at the back of her throat..could it be this or maybe something else?

thanks

Hi CMS11,

I am sorry to hear that your LO has been waking up a bit distressed.

Changes to sleep can be caused by many different reasons including nightmares/dreams, illness, teething etc.

If your LO is teething and has a cough I wonder if this may be contributing to her waking up so upset.

Have you noticed a pattern to her waking's? I wonder if trying to get to her before she becomes so upset to help try to reassure her,

You have said you have taken her outside because she is so upset - is that outside of her room? If possible it may be worth to keep her in her room to minimise the amount of movement to her, this may also be adding to some confusion to her if she is still very sleepy.

If she is teething or has a cough she can also have paracetamol if you feel this may help to ease her symptoms.

Hopefully this will resolve but if you feel this is getting worse or not improving you can speak to your health visitor who can take more information and offer further advice.

Best wishes
