Easter is on its way (with Easter Sunday falling on 9 April this year), so here's THE place to share all your top tips and tricks for having an egg-cellent time on a budget! Plus, don't forget to check the Aldi website regularly to see their latest Easter offers !
What are your top tips and tricks for Easter on a budget?
My tip:
Buy some easter egg moulds and make your own.
Saves you money on the eggs, and it gives you something to do with the kids on Easter Saturday.
I think one of the easiest ways to make Easter fun is to draw out all the activities as long as possible.
- We colour eggs together before big day in preparation.
- Do Easter crafts like homemade Easter bonnets, Easter cards, bunny crafts – I love these easy pompom chicks on the Netmums site netmums.com/easter/easter-crafts-for-kids/2-fluffy-pom-pom-chicks
- In addition to hiding dyed hard-boiled eggs and candy ones, we do a treasure hunt, with clues left all around the house and garden. There's a small "prize" at the end but honestly I think the children love running around and figuring out what the clues and rhymes mean as much as getting the surprise at the end
- Play games! We love to pull out some of our favourite board games or cards and set aside time to play together as a special Easter treat. Real quality time!

Hi Kirk, love this idea! And if you get two different coloured chocolate bars you can swirl the colours together for a fancy 'expensive-looking' marble effect egg too! :)
We're going to make some chocolate nests with little choc eggs in them, do an egg hunt around the house (our garden is too small to do one) and then watch some Peter Rabbit!

We're going to do an Easter chick hunt instead of chocolate eggs this year!
We always have lots of family and friends round for a roast, but it's a little pricey this year so each household joining is bringing a dish. My neighbour is bringing her famous honey roast carrots, and my mum has made an miringue. Even my 3 year year old has made rice crispy buns with little chicks on top.
It's been a really nice experience planning it, taking away all the stress and everyone is so excited
