Without knowing what risks SS consider the father to be they can and do take action if needed.

I would suggest it is easier to work with them to get them off your case rather than work against them.

This also means they are out of your life faster once they are happy both the child and you are safe and thinking safety first.

He has mental health problems and just to be controling and just be aggressive but is getting help

So it would be reasonable and sensible for him to get help and be separate from yourself and the child until he is stable and poses no risk.

To continue to be with someone where a risk exists might not be seen as putting your childs needs first. You may have a love connection with him and wish to be in his life but he needs to evidence over time that he has changed. Then you can be the family you want to be.

SS will consider your ability to make sensible choices.

If he is invested he will also wish to put the child first and do his best to get back on a level setting as is possible.
