Hi, I am a concerned parent of a child who has recently been diagnosed with hearing loss. As you can imagine, this has been a difficult time for us, and we are seeking guidance on how to best support our son. I was wondering if any other parents have gone through a similar experience and could share their advice on how to communicate with and educate a child with hearing loss.
Hi Patricia
We've moved your thread into our drop-in clinic - baby and child health, so you can get the advice and support you need
Hi Patricia
Thank you for posting.
Your local audiology team will be able to offer further advice and signposting which you may find helpful. Depending on the severity of your son's hearing loss may depend on which services he can be referred to so he can be supported with a wide range of needs.
Depending on your son's age you may also be able to seek advice and support from your health visiting or school nursing team. They will have local knowledge on possible family support groups as well as health/emotional support.
You may also find Childhood deafness | National Deaf Children's Society (ndcs.org.uk) helpful.
I hope this is useful to you
Best wishes
Emma
