Hello, I’d love to know how other Mum’s manage the laundry in terms of how often you put the washing on each week and iron it, do you have any routines for sorting it all out and getting it put away? I have a toddler and a baby and the washing basket is full every few days so I end up putting it to wash a few times per week, but I’m so tired of constantly having baskets of clean laundry to then sort out and iron! Is this just life as a Mum of two?! Xxx

There’s two adults and two children in my house, although my husband usually works away Monday-Friday so if he’s been away all week he’ll do one full load of his own things then repacks them if he’s away again so mainly just mine and the girls things. I do one load a day without fail [emoji85] sometimes two. That does include bedding and towels tho. I usually iron once every 7-10 days when they’re in bed x

I wash and dry every two days. I fold and put away the days I don’t wash. I iron in the morning when required.

I wash daily sometimes 2 loads. If I can get away with not ironing I just fold and put away and I iron x1 weekly. We’re a family of 3 [emoji16]

I have a washing basket that has 3 sections - light, dark, colours. Everyone's washing goes into this basket and when one section is full I put a load on.

I do towels once a week and bedding every other week. My toddlers bedding is every time I do a light wash.

I don't iron. I hang dry and most things dry nicely. I only iron if I go to wear something and it looks creased which is rare.

I put stuff away as soon as its dry. Doesn't take too long when I put it away one load a time rather than saving it up (which I've created mountains in the past and it takes ages so try to avoid this)

I probably on average do a load every other day [emoji4]

4 children and 2 adults here. I wash twice a day, every day. Once in a morning and once early evening. We have tumble dryer if the weather is not great (most of the time!). Occasionally use radiators but not often due to damp. Sunday's I do 4 loads, as that's bedding day so literally everything is washed and dried and put back on. But yeah, Monday to Saturday is two loads a day, washed and dried. I don't iron unless its absolutely necessary. My life is busy enough without ironing as well. I hang up clothes as soon as they are dry and if there are any creases they drop out.

Iron ???

When first together I attempted to iron OH's shirts.  I was so bad though, that he had to do them again!  I literally iron about 4x a year at most. I have a pair of linen trousers and only a handful of shirts that need it and specially buy things that dont need ironing.  If hung on a hanger whilst wet, they are fine.

OP- what do you have that must be ironed?

I have 2 adults and 2 teens in our house, my machine is on once a day. I do clothes washings each  day and then a towel washing twice a week.  It’s constant. My son thinks clothes get washed after one wash rather than hanging them back up! Drives me insane. I don’t iron unless 8 need to.

Bedding all gets washed on the one day so 3 loads washed, dried and back on beds that day, thank heavens for sunny weather or the tumble dryer!

I wash every day and put away as it's dried, I don't iron as my dryer is good at not creasing clothes. If the weather is nice I'll peg it out instead.  It's a never ending battle really but can't stand washing lying around or cleaned washing piled up to be put away .

I do at least one load per day!! I separate lights, darks and towels. I pop a load of laundry on before bed so it’s finished when I get up and I have time to pop a second on before I head to work. I love ironing but it was abandoned when I gave birth 🤦🏼*♀️

I just don't iron, much to the horror of my mother. I haven't picked up the iron unless it's for smart clothes for years, the creases all fall out in the wardrobe anyway. In of keeping on top of the washing, I have a much easier time of it in summer when the weather is nice. On Thursday I for 4 washloads done and dried ready to be put away. I've managed to get 3 put away one is still sat in the basket!

I wash most days. I fold things and leave piles that the kids might put away eventually. I don’t iron!

Never iron 😬 always hang clothes straight from washing machine and let them dry. Any clothes that need ironing get put in the tumble dryer on the ‘iron setting’ which works perfectly. Bedding gets washed once a week and I wash and dry at the same time - they never, ever get ironed.
Try and do a small pile every day. Iron only what needs ironing. The rest, can stay creased.

Just so you feel better [emoji23] (hats off to all these organised people)  I have 2 boys age 2 and 5. I never have enough hours in the day. I do a wash on Wednesday (my day off work) and several at the weekend. However the ironing and putting away is very hit and miss! I often have baskets full of clean washing everywhere! I sometimes manage to do it on Sunday afternoon but depends on whether we are at home at the weekend!
