First birthday gift ideas

its my sons first birthday in a few weeks and I have no idea what to get him. My mum has kindly booked a toddler class for us which I think is a lovely idea and a lot of our relatives are paying money into his child saver account but I would like to get him something to un-wrap. He is our second so he already has a lot of my daughters old toys. Did any one get any really good gifts they could recommend? I don’t want to waste money on stuff he might only use for a couple of months!
