Hi all,

I’m 5 weeks pregnant and over the moon, however really concerned about a few things and wondering if anyone could help.

I’m overweight with a BMI of 37 and I’m worried about the size of the baby. Can anyone in this situation advise if their baby was really big? I am trying to eat healthy and exercise where I can.

also, did you have issues with your scan images? I have my scan on 2nd June eek

thanks all x

Hi Rani I've just replied to yourself & Hariett on the Dec due chat, I'm also 5wks & have similar scan dates. I just booked private scan aswell for 30th April. I'm also worried about being overweight I'm only 5ft2 so my bmi is 44 which makes me feel anxious plus I'm older at 34. I spoke with midwife yesterday & she didn't seem overly converned, advised just to cut down on sugar, carbs etc & take your vitamins. Hopefully we can get some advice on here xx

Hi Zoe, congrats! Our dates are basically the same - how exciting. I’m glad you managed to get through to your midwife earlier than your appointment and the advice they’ve given sounds good and reassuring. I’m so worried about not being able to see the baby in the scans, or about the weight of the baby and even the judgment I may face from people. Also.. seriously concerned I might not look pregnant because I carry a lot of my weight in my tummy anyway :(

Gosh, so much excitement but worry at the same time. I’m so glad you’re in the same boat as me as I now have someone to talk to. I’ll update if I hear anything x

Hey, I'm due in December too, and I have the same stats as you. So worried with having my BMI at 44 and being 34 years old. I keep going back and forth with wanting a private scan! I'm away this weekend but I think from Tuesday I'm going to have to take more control over the diet. Makes me feel a bit better that your midwife wasn't overly concerned. I have my first appt on 21st April xx

Congratulations Tina! From what I'm reading, it's important to have a healthy lifestyle and not to worry too much which is what I've started to try and do - easier said than done as I feel hungry all the time and even more so when I am anxious.

I'm glad we decided to book the private scan which is costing £80 but it'll help provide some reassurance before our midwife appointment and the 12 week scan. I have no pregnancy symptoms which worries me. At least your appointment is next week which is good that you don't have to wait so long

Hi Guys,

Jumped over from the due in December too.

When I fell pregnant my son, my BMI was 38. They gave me a couple of tests throughout my pregnancy to check if I developed diabetes, which I didn't.

As for scans you could still see everything, to me my scan pics looked the same as others. They also have me a couple of extra scans rather than just 12 weeks and 20 weeks. (This may if been because I was classed as a geriatric mother 😅🤣 (aged 36)

My son was measuring on the 90th percentile and they noted that he had long tigh bones. His dad is 6ft 4 and I am 5ft 9.

I thought he was going to be huge; but he weighed 7lbs 7.

This time my BMI is 33

😁❤️
