Hi, me and my husband have been trying to conceive for 6months+ now for our first child and haven’t been successful :(

my period is very regular and I never miss a cycle.

my period was due on 30/03/23 but I had some really light pink spotting the day before and this lasted for 5 days. I’ve also had some mild lower abdominal cramping which isn’t like my usual cramps and I’ve been extremely tired with light nausea.

I took a pregnancy test just now and it was negative. I don’t like taking them as I’m usually afraid of the results. It was a boots own brand strip test. I’m not sure what to do.

usually I get symptoms like cramping, sore breasts and a headache but this time I’ve had none of that.

I’m planning on waiting a bit before testing again and speaking to my doctor but I’m so scared of finding out that I can’t conceive.

Did I test too early? It’s really bringing me down :(

Get a clear blue test they are the best ones and re test again. Don’t give up hope 1 myself and my partner were trying for 13 months and it finally happened but then ended up in a miscarrige - had one period then got pregnant again and currently 24 weeks. Don’t give up it will happen for you xx

I hear you- it seems like the longest wait to do a test every month and the hoping and longing, it's such a roller coaster.

So important (though so much easier said than done) to try and relax about it- stress can affect your periods and get in the way of ttc. Just try to enjoy the journey.

I went to my gp at 6 months ttc and felt so relieved when they told me average time ttc for a healthy couple is approx. 12-18 months. They said after 12 months we could have fertility investigations. So after that I relaxed and fell at 8 months ttc.

Please try not to put too much pressure on yourself and just have fun so it doesn't become a chore!

Sending best wishes your way good luck with your journey xxx

I’ve bought the first response one and I have a clear blue digital one sitting at home too but I’m too scared to test again. I’m now 8 days late and I’ve been getting lower abdominal cramps and back pain with these weird twinges.

I literally feel like I’m about to come on my period any time but there’s no sign of it...

Ah thank you! Yeah I’ve read that too and I’ve actually studied medicine but it’s so different when it’s actually happening to you to understand things!

my period still hasn’t shown up 8 days late now which has never happened before. I’ve also been getting these weird cramps in my lower abdomen and back. I constantly feel like I’m going to come on but every time I check it’s not there.

I’m also too scared to test again :(

Did you test again? Any news? Good luck!

I did test again as I’m currently 16 days late and the test was negative. I haven’t been sleeping too well and I’m also fasting at the moment and I’m thinking this must be the reason why my cycle has been messed up this month. I’ve been getting random sharp pains on my left side over the last few days.

I think my biggest fear with all this is perimenopause. I’m 33 and I worry every month that I’m on a ticking timebomb and if I don’t get pregnant soon I’ll never be able to :(.

with my period being missing this month it’s been my main worry and I’m struggling to not stress about it until I see it again. I know I sound silly but I can’t help but feel so scared about it :(
